You Shone...

I started a new challenge.  NaNoJouMo   The theme for the month is classic rock songs. Yesterday's post was day 1 of that challenge.
Today's prompt is Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond".  I actually had most of the background done and this line from the song seemed to go with it.

OK, guess I'm not so good at keeping up with this blog stuff.
I feel like I'm starting to get familiar with what my style is. I have to learn to stay away from the temptation of attempting art that is not "me".
Anyway, this is some recent stuff.

I stated a mini book that I will use for Rumi quotes. This is first one. Love the quote but my mountains could have been better.

So happy it's Autumn! The weather has been perfect this week. I feel like I haven't been doing much crafting lately.  I did this quick collage for the prompt "sugar skulls" on Wild Soul Arts   .  I don't know why that silly song popped into my head LOL

Not sure about this one yet.  I like how the bird turned out. I stamped it on tissue paper with Staz-On ink. It's a much richer image that I expected.

Rainy Saturday

A rainy day is perfect to spend in the craft room.
I finished the butterfly collage that I started yesterday. 

 

 

And then I just made this one this afternoon and then found out that Neil Armstong had died.  This is the first time I've tried this kind of lettering. I always like the ones I see on the different blogs.

Busy Week

It's been a busy week here. Kids started school on Wednesday. And today is my husband's birthday. I'm looking forward to lots of relaxing and arting next week!

A rare picture of both kids together. I made them pose so we can frame the pic and give it to their father for his birthday.

And this is my current MDS background. I'm finding that I like to keep the pages I journal on kind of plain.

Christy Tomlinson at scarletlime.com had an amazing sale this week! I signed up to take She Art 1 & 2. I took the first one already, but now I (might) know what I'm doing and I have a lot more supplies on hand.

I've had this song running through my head for a while. Glad I finally got to use it. But I should have listened to the song again before doing it. It should say "your" instead of "the". Oh, well :-/ But I do like how the flowers turned out.
The song is "Say Something" by James.

Be careful what you wish for

Well, I set out to do "grungy" LOL. This was definitely out of my comfort zone. I kept wanting to pretty it up. Lots of layers on it - not all of them done on purpose.

PS - Had some time to look at this and I have to say that I like it! This is something I would pin on Pinterest LOL. Note to self: Step outside your comfort zone! Every day! <3

This is the first piece I made for 21 Secrets. Dina Wakley's Intuitive Painting Layers class was so much fun! I loved seeing the picture emerge from the doodles and turn into something.

Painting over collage was a Life Book lesson. This was so much fun to do! And I love how it turned out.

1. Start with collage background and a magazine cutout of a girl.

 2. Start painting face and hair.

3. Paint clothes, background and add details.

4. Add quote and more details. That's it! <3

It's my first time doing a portrait. Messed up the nose and was totally lost on the shading, but she's mine and I like her.

Summer!

Wow! It's July already. Half the year gone in the blink of an eye. It is true that time flies whether you're having fun or not.
I've had my ups and downs so far this year. The most painful is the people who have decided to leave my life. People that I trusted. I don't know that I've done anything to make them leave and therefore cannot do anything to bring them back. Just another life lesson. 
My "up" is really a "down" LOL. I lost 20 pounds earlier this year. Yes, that was good. But I stopped when I couldn't do it anymore and now can't get back into it. Yes, very frustrating. I keep trying. Every day is a new day and a new chance.
I've also been doing a lot of art journaling. I'm enjoying it and have met some awesome women in the groups I've joined.

So frustrating since I don't know what I'm doing though.

I do love looking at art journals on Pinterest. SO much inspiration and such great ideas. Hope to spend a very crafty Summer with Miss N. She never has writer's block or artist's block LOL!

Take Two

Holy Cow! I still have a blog! It's been a whole year since I wrote. I think about writing all the time but just never get to it. Let's see if I can stick to it this time.

I've been reading a lot. Love my Kindle Fire! I love getting library books for the Kindle. I'm currently reading Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan. The writing is very good and I'm enjoying it so far.

I staying busy with different crafts. And my Pinterest obsession takes up lots of my time.
